The Holiday Open House - The Oaks at Salem

The Oaks at Salem was the location of a wonderfully festive Holiday open house last night (Sunday the 4th).  The Ninety Nine Entertainment DJ Company was in attendance as well as a large portion of the Raleigh area wedding and party business community!  The property was exquisitely decorated and filled with great people, incredible food, drinks and Holiday cheer.

As we arrived at the house, we noticed the outdoor lighting from the house to the landscaping all the way across the pond to the ceremony site where there was a magnificently lit 100 year old tree.  The tree lighting - courtesy of Scott Carneval and his team from No Regret Productions DJ Company (as well as the sound for the evening) was spectacular!  There were several LED spots on the tree with a subtle color changing program keeping it looking fresh for every glance.

We walked in the door and were met by the hostess for the evening and were immediately guided into the room to the right where Jamie Howell, Stephanie Cisko and their team from Viva L'Event had set up for registration and sign in.

Once my wife and I were signed in and "name tagged up" we began our adventure into the Oaks at Salem.
We started in the great room where there we dozens of people chattering and food and drink....everywhere!
the food looked delicious and was provided by the Daniel's catering team, Cook Shack Catering and PoshNosh Catering.

We filled up cups of hot apple cider and hot chocolate and explored....from room to room as well as upstairs and down....we encountered finely decorated rooms and tables from Flowers by Elizabeth, Julie Liles Floral & Event Design, The English Garden,  Tre Bella and Party Reflections.

Every room had something to see, do or eat!  Downstairs there was an entire room filled with cake and cake pops from Ambrosia Cake Designs, Sweet Memories Bakery and Raleigh Cake Pops.  There were people having a great time with Neal Zipser of ShutterBooth.  He was set up downstairs with one of his photobooths, props and the works!

There were so many people there we didn't have time to speak with everyone - however - we did manage to have enchanting conversation with Julie Liles from Julie Liles Floral & Event Design, Elizabeth Jones from Flowers by Elizabeth, Neal Zipser from ShutterBooth, Julianne Kass from the English Garden Flowers, Scott Carneval from No Regret Productions,  the team from Raleigh Cake Pops, Jennifer Stevens of Ambrosia and April Maness owner and operator of The Oaks at Salem.

Great job Jamie Howell and Stephanie Cisko and the team from Viva L'Event!  Excellent turnout and everyone had a great time!

Happy Holidays!

Tips for the Perfect Wedding Website

A growing trend for engaged couples are Wedding Websites.  The following article is filled with tips found in the Huffing Post in an article written by Kimberly Miller of Leaflet PR.

More and more couples are putting together websites to document and publish the time spent together while engaged, the wedding celebration and more.  Technology prevented the majority of people from being able to do this – unless you were a website designer – until more recently.  These days you can find several web design companies that allow you to design your own sites for a minimum cost….even free!

Here are a list of tips – in no particular order of importance….

Tip Number 1:  Try to come up with an easy, memorable URL.  If available, try to secure a domain name that has both of your names - this makes it more memorable for your family and a bit more special for you, too.  Here are a couple examples:

  • JimlovesTrish.com
  • JimandTrishWedding.com

Tip Number 2:  You have to include the information about your venues.  You'll want your guests to have as much information as possible so they can easily find the venues and arrive on time.  This page can have the following:

  • A map that can supply directions.  One way is to embed a Google Map.
  • Phone number for a contact at the venue
  • Time ceremony starts
  • Any additional special instructions or information

Tip Number 3:  You need to include hotel information.  List multiple hotels in the area to offer your guests plenty of options at different price ranges.

Tip Number 4:  Make sure your registry information is on the site.  Many stores offer an online element for their registries. You can link directly to your registry from this page.

Tip Number 5:  You HAVE TO include your proposal story!!   This is your chance to talk about how the proposal happened.  Your friends and family will want to know all the details!

Tip Number 6:  Include photo albums.  Photo albums on wedding sites can be compiled into different categories.  Here are ideas for how to organize your photos into different albums:

  • As Kids
  • As a couple
  • Engagement pictures
  • Wedding and reception pictures
  • Honeymoon pictures

Tip Number 7:  You can include an RSVP form.   Let your guests RSVP straight from the website.

Tip Number 8:  Include your Vendors.  Here's the chance to promote the vendors (Here comes a shameless plug....like your favorite Raleigh DJ Company - Ninety Nine Entertainment) that you're excited about.  You can include links to their sites with a short description of why you love them and why everyone else should use them as well!

Tip Number 9:  Include the wedding date.  Be sure to include this on the homepage and many additional pages, perhaps at the bottom of each page (the footer) or incorporated at the top in the header.

I hope this helps!  Keep it fun!!!
